What Golf Public is
Golf Public shows public golf tee times around Sacramento, the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Napa, Tahoe and Reno in one place and sends you to each course's own booking page to book. Golf Public does not sell tee times, take payments, or book on your behalf.
Not affiliated with the courses or booking sites
Golf Public is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any golf course, GolfNow, TeeItUp, Chronogolf, foreUP, or any other booking service. Course names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify the courses.
Prices and availability can change
- Tee times, prices, fees, weather and "busyness" come from outside sources and are checked every so often, not live. A time can be booked by someone else, or a price can change, before you get to it.
- The price and terms on the course's booking page are the ones that count. Always check them before you book.
- Labels like "deal," "quiet," "packed" and "holes of light" are Golf Public's estimates to help you choose, not guarantees.
Using Golf Public
- Golf Public is free for personal use.
- Please don't copy, scrape, resell or republish Golf Public's data, design or code, and don't use automated tools to collect it.
- Golf Public is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Golf Public isn't liable for missed tee times, price differences, booking problems, or any losses from using it.
- These terms may change; the date above shows the latest version.
Privacy
No accounts, no ads, and no tracking of you. Golf Public doesn't use advertising or third-party analytics or tracking cookies, and only asks for an email address if you set a tee-time alert. It does keep simple anonymous counts, described below.
- On your device: your favorites, hidden courses, chosen design, the name you type into plans, your list of plans, the courses you've picked to compare, and which courses you've rated are saved in your browser on your device only. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Plan a round: when you create or reply to a plan, the plan's name, the group size, the names people type, the days and parts of the day they say they're free, their limits (most they'd pay, walking or riding, holes), and the courses and tee times they choose or vote for are stored so everyone with the link can see them. Anyone who has the link can view that plan, so share it only with your group. Plans are deleted automatically 30 days after the last change.
- Course ratings and conditions: when you rate a course or report its conditions, Golf Public stores the course name, roughly when you played, and the answers you tapped (scores for the course, greens, pace and value; or what the greens, fairways, bunkers, pace, cart paths and aeration were like), nothing about you. Condition reports are deleted two weeks after the round. Ratings and reports are shown as summaries and can't be traced back to anyone. To keep them honest, a connection can rate or report on the same course once a day; that check uses a scrambled, short-lived form of the connection's address, which isn't kept.
- Tee-time alerts: if you set an alert, Golf Public stores your email address and what the alert watches (the courses, days, times, number of players and price limit) and uses them only to send that alert's emails. Nothing starts until you tap the link in the confirmation email. Emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service. Your address is never sold or shared. Every alert email has a link to stop it, alerts end on their own after their last day (or after 30 days for weekly alerts), and stopped or ended alerts are deleted.
- Your golf diary: if you mark courses you've played, Golf Public keeps what you enter (the course, and if you add them the day, whether you'd play it again, the tags you tap, your score and your notes) on your device and in a private diary on Golf Public's service, so it isn't lost if your browser clears its storage. The diary has no name, email or account attached: it's opened with a long random code kept on your device, and, if you choose to protect it, a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, a fingerprint or your device's screen lock). The passkey stays on your device or in your Apple, Google or Microsoft account; Golf Public only stores its public half, which can't be used to sign in anywhere. Nobody else can see your diary, and it's never shared or used for anything else. "Delete my diary" removes it from Golf Public right away; a diary nobody opens for three years is deleted automatically.
- Your area: on your first visit, Golf Public shows the region nearest you, using the approximate location of your internet connection (city level, provided by Cloudflare). It's used only to pick the area and measure distances to courses, and isn't stored. Once you choose regions yourself, your choice is used instead.
- Anonymous counts: to learn which parts of Golf Public are useful, it counts visits, new devices, taps on "Book" buttons (only which course and which booking website, never who tapped), taps on "Send to my group", and whether a visit came from a shared or labeled link (only the label, such as "share"). Your device keeps two small flags so a return visit isn't counted twice. The counts hold no names, IDs, or IP addresses and are stored with Cloudflare. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, nothing is counted.
- Services the page loads: map images come from OpenStreetMap and fonts from Google Fonts, which receive standard technical information (like your IP address) when your browser requests them. Plans and alerts are stored with Cloudflare.
- Links out: when you tap a tee time, you go to the course's or booking service's own site, and their privacy policy applies there.
- Golf Public is meant for adults and doesn't knowingly collect information from children.
